What is happening at Schwab.com?
We are pleased to announce the launch of the new Schwab.com client center. Schwab.com has been redesigned to make it easier than ever to access all of your Schwab accounts and the services that matter most to you. To ensure a smooth transition, we are giving clients the opportunity to try out the new site before we switch everyone over permanently. The new site is live and active, so if you transfer money or make a trade, the transaction will occur.

When will the switch to the new Schwab.com client center be completed?
Our goal is to make the transition to the new Schwab.com as easy as possible. We understand that it can take a while to familiarize yourself with the improvements on the new site, so the transition will happen in three phases:
  1. Try it: During this trial phase, your login continues to direct to the “original” client center. You can visit the new Schwab.com through links in the right column of several Schwab.com pages, including Account Overview, Account Balances, Account History and other popular pages on the site.
  2. Use it: In a few weeks, you will automatically be taken to the new site when you log in. You will still be able to access the original site from links in the right column of the new site’s Account Overview, Account Balances and Account History pages.
  3. Retirement of the original site: In early 2009, we will retire the original Schwab.com client center, and remove links to the original site.

Can I still use the original Schwab.com site?
Yes, you can use both sites until the retirement of the original site; this is scheduled for early 2009.

How do I access the new Schwab.com site?
You can access the new Schwab.com by typing www.schwab.com/new into your Internet browser and logging in. You can also access the new site through links on the Account Overview, Account Balances and Account History pages, as well as the main login screen. At the start of the introduction phase, simply log in as you typically do, and the new site will be your default.

Can I elect to have the new Schwab.com site appear every time I log in? If so, will I be able to change it back?
Yes, you can currently change your default settings so the new Schwab.com site opens at login. Simply visit the login page of the new site, www.schwab.com/new, and click the “Always take me to the new site” checkbox that sits on the middle of the right side of the page.
If you change your mind during the trial period, you can reset your default settings so the original Schwab.com site will open at login. Simply uncheck the “Always take me to the new site” checkbox. You will have this option until the official switch to the new site, which is scheduled for early 2009.

New Site Enhancements

Are my accounts active when I log in to the new Schwab.com site? Can I place trades or take any other actions in my accounts on the new Schwab.com?
Yes, both sites are active. The new Schwab.com is fully functional at login, and the original site will remain live and functional until early 2009.

What has changed? Is there a place where I can see highlights of the new site?
There are a number of resources that you can use to learn about the new site:

I’m used to seeing Quick Quote at the bottom of the screen. Where can I find it on the new Schwab.com?
Quick Quote and Symbol Lookup have been relocated to the navigation bar at the top of your screen.
For quick assistance, the auto-complete feature assists you as you type the symbol. You can refresh a quote, get additional details or link directly to the trade screen to place an order. In addition, now Quick Quote opens only when you need it, stays open while you're working (even as you move around the site) and closes when you’re done working with it.

What happened to the Bank tab?
You are now able to move between your bank and brokerage accounts without having to visit a separate tab for your banking information. To access information on your bank accounts, simply use the Account Selector on relevant pages such as Account Balances and History and select your bank account to view its details. For Schwab Bank Bill Pay, go to Accounts > Transfers & Payments and click the Pay Bills tab.

Where is my stock watch list?
To keep relevant trade information at your fingertips, the watch list is now displayed on the Trade tab.

Where is Gain/Loss?
Unrealized Gain/Loss is now on the Positions page to provide customers with a multifaceted view of their holdings. The new Positions page provides three complementary, side-by-side views of your open positions—with performance measurements ranging from today up to the past 10 years.
Market Value tab
From today’s market
Includes intraday trading activity
Unrealized Gain/Loss tab
From the time of purchase
Based on yesterday's trading activity
Positions Monitor tab
Over time in comparison to industry benchmarks
Past performance from three months to 10 years, including risk measurements
Realized gain/loss information was relocated to the History page for easy access and close proximity to Statements & Reports (formerly eDocuments) and Transactions. Clients now have all their historical data in one place, making it easy to reference other data such as trade confirms, statements and 1099s, when preparing tax data.
It’s just as easy as always to switch between unrealized and realized gain/loss. We’ve provided links between both pages in the upper left corner, above the account summary tables. It only takes one click to switch views—just as it did on the original site.

Where can I find eDocuments?
The page formerly known as eDocuments is now under History under the Accounts tab. Simply click on Statements & Reports to access your statements, trade confirm and tax forms electronically.
