Jatiluwih rice terrace, Bali, Indonesia — October 10, 2012

It is a bit farther than other rice terraces, but a trip up to recent UNESCO enlisted Jatiluwih is well worth it. The only catch is you must get there before 10:00 AM as a local advised us, because a relentless cloud cover often forms thereafter damaging the contrast and making photography and general viewing less spectacular. Still, even in overcast conditions, this place is stunning. I wish we could have spent a day or two here. Be sure to buy a bag of locally grown rice on the way out.
